Our mission

We exist to equip leaders to build a mission movement rooted in mutuality and reciprocity. We do this by fostering transformative learning experiences and cultural intelligence through collaboration and shared purpose.

Our vision

Our vision is to see a Church that reflects the fullness of God's Kingdom—where partnership, mutual respect, and shared discipleship transcend cultural divides. We envision a global Christian community where the Western Church embraces its role as a humble learner and collaborator, actively working alongside the Majority World to advance the Gospel with justice, equity, and love. Through this shift, we seek to empower believers everywhere to live out the gospel in ways that honor diverse cultures, promote reconciliation, and bear lasting fruit for the Kingdom.

Discipleship + Justice = MUTUALITY

“Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter.”

Meet our founder

Mekdes Haddis is an author and a sought after African Missional thought leader whose voice is challenging the Church to undo its “missions as usual” ethos.

She founded The Mutuality Lab in 2024 to help churches, non-profits, and faith driven entrepreneurs move beyond transactional missions toward transformative partnerships rooted in mutuality, reciprocity, and shared learning.

She believes there are key voices missing from shaping the global mission movement and focuses on elevating those voices through training leaders and offering learning experiences through The Mutuality Lab.

She's been married to Ermias since 2012 and they have two beautiful children, Natania and Noah. Her first book, A Just Mission is available wherever books are sold.
